Principal's Welcome |
On behalf of the MacKillop community, I am delighted to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
MacKillop College is an all-girls’ Catholic Secondary School located in the beautiful country city of Bathurst, just over two hours drive from Sydney. The school is situated on extensive well-maintained grounds housing exceptional sporting fields and facilities, courtyards and professional outdoor learning areas. The College was opened in 1967 and was originally called The Diocesan Catholic Girls High School. The name was changed in 1995 to MacKillop College after the beatification of Mary MacKillop that same year. MacKillop College is grounded in its Catholic values, drawing from the rich traditions of its founders, the Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of St Joseph. Our motto is "Esto Mundi Lumen" - "With Mary’s help be a light to the world." We pride ourselves in providing a contemporary and engaging learning environment with high expectations for girls from Years 7-12 in a safe and nurturing community.
At MacKillop, we strongly believe in the effectiveness of girls’ education to empower young women to reach their personal, social and academic potential. In a beautiful learning environment, girls are challenged to be the best version of themselves, to work as part of a cohesive team and to celebrate each other’s achievements. It is this sense of community spirit that shapes the culture of our school.
MacKillop College enjoys the reputation for academic success, and we are always looking at ways to improve the educational opportunities we offer. Our girls have achieved outstanding results in the Higher School Certificate and in a diverse range of external exams and competitions. Our College also provides for students on non-academic pathways with outstanding opportunities and facilities to support their development.
Girls are well catered for at MacKillop with a wide range of enrichment opportunities on offer. From the annual combined College musical and drama performances with St Stanislaus' College, to a multitude of sports, academic competitions, faith formation opportunities, STEAM activities and overseas excursions. There are pathways to higher representation across most sports through the Diocesan system, NSW Combined Catholic Colleges and NSW All Schools.
As a Christian school in the Catholic tradition, we value, respect and are committed to nurturing the personal, ethical and academic development of every student. We are an inclusive community and welcome applications from students and families from all backgrounds. Our school fees are very affordable, and no student will be denied a Catholic education at MacKillop for financial reasons. If you have any further questions or would like to book a tour, please do not hesitate to contact our school. I look forward to meeting you and your daughter.
