MacKillop College acknowledges and pays respects to the traditional custodians past, present and emerging of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who long before us lived, loved and raised their children on this land. We acknowledge all the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community as we come together to learn, to share and journey together. 

MacKillop College includes Aboriginal perspectives across all Key Learning Areas. The school commemorates and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander significant dates as a whole school. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are supported pastorally, culturally and academically across our school community to ensure a culturally safe and positive education experience that will lead to real opportunities post school. 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are assisted with their classwork and organisation skills, and provided with post-school pathways guidance including university opportunities. 

MacKillop College students are able to study Aboriginal Studies as an HSC subject via Distance Education, supported by a Teacher mentor at the school.

Our Aboriginal Education Worker (AEW) mentors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with wellbeing, transition and educational support at the College, as well as assisting to build the leadership capacity of students. Our AEW is a primary point of contact with parents and other members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. 

Our AEW assists the College with cultural advice and the understanding and sharing of Indigenous history and the valuing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the school environment, while ensuring the coming together of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students in the appreciation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.
